About the blog

This rambling blog is about building a couple of simple layouts in HO, the available space is rather small but the prototype was not built on the grand scale, most rural stations were merely a curved loop and a siding, which is easy to replicate.

Return of the K.Bay.Sts.B - Locos Pt 2

The header states that 'This rambling blog is about building a couple of simple layouts in HO' and to date most of the blog has featured the smaller layout however work is still prgressing on the larger layout. The most recent update was the building of the station building from an old Kibri kit but the small collection of locomotives has not been forgotten. The layout is inspired by an iconic but small section of the Spessart Rampe consequently the loco list is based on the 1914-22 allocation to Bw Aschaffenburg and Bw Würzburg:-

                                S 3/5        (later 17.4-5)
                                B VI
                                C III
                                E I            (American)
                                G 4/5       (later 56.4)
                                D XII         (later 73.0-1) : 4 allocated
                                D IV          (later 88.71-72)
                                D II           (later 89.6)
                                R 3/3        (later 89.7-8)
                                Gt 2x4/4   (later 96.0)
                                PtL 2/2     (later 98.3) : 1 allocated
                                D XI          (later 98.4-5) : 2 allocated
                                D VI          (later 98.75) : 2 allocated
                                D VII         (later 98.76) : 8 allocated

and Bw Würzburg

                                S3/6         (later 18.4-5)
G5/5        (later 57.5) both series from 1920 onwards

Most, if not all, are available in HO and some now reside in the 'rainy day' cupboard.
