About the blog

This rambling blog is about building a couple of simple layouts in HO, the available space is rather small but the prototype was not built on the grand scale, most rural stations were merely a curved loop and a siding, which is easy to replicate.

Small layout progress - 4

This unusual rear view is the cassette dock and the rocks around the tunnel, so typical of Fränkische Schweiz

The rocks and tunnel mouth are hard and soft plastic mouldings, from Noch or Auhagen, they were painted with Crown Taupe and stained with Artist's Ink.

The components are ultra light and yet very strong and not prone to damage, unlike more traditional material.

Everything is held in place with Evo-Stick Serious Stuff, it seems to be solvent-free and the excess can be wiped clean with water, really good.

As soon as it is secure, a dummy foamboard hillside will be installed and the trackwork can be completed.

Next time, the front view........
