About the blog

This rambling blog is about building a simple layout in HO, the available space is rather small but the prototype was not built on the grand scale, most rural stations were merely a curved loop and a siding, which is easy to replicate.

Fulgurex E1 test

A 40+ year old Fulgurex model is tested after DCC is installed, the task was challenging but the loco's mechanism is precision engineering. All axles are individually sprung running in phosphor bronze bearings.

The model is a E1 2-8-0 2085, one of two built by Baldwin for the K.Bay.Sts.B. and both were out of use by 1920.
