Rural culture

The layout is home to three small vegetable allotments, a reflection of what I see from my workbench and each is slightly different both in size and scope.

The oldest is attached to the farmhouse, the cottage has a more formal arrangement whilst the station master's patch is tucked away near the end of the station.

Currently, the station master's allotment is the the process of being created, the actual ground is waiting to be laid in place but first the surrounding area must be completed.

Naturally, the allotment must have a shed worthy of the station master's status and it must have an armchair.

This is just the start.....

The tatty fence is in place, another few hours before it can be painted or not, as necessary. The furrowed earth inset has developed a slight curve and needed to be pressed flat.  The tomatoes and potatoes are growing but it still needs a lot more detail.

Those who look after allotments

The area north of Forcheim is well known for its flat, sandy soil and its horticulture of providing the vegetables and fruit for Nurnberg, during Ep3, the workforce was invariably female.

This is Preiser's rather old but appropriate offering of field workers of Ep3, the ladies are as remembered.
