Unfortunately the seller's description did not mention that the decoder was completely dead, Brian at BLW Technical Services has sent a mini-decoder
The awful body of the 2-6-2t spent the weekend soaking in Dettol. The result was far better than feared, I need to remove the residual layers but whoever spent €400+ on details spoilt a really neat model by a shitty paint job. I have a compressor powered abrasive airbrush sold as to nail artists, it should do the trick.
Hopefully I can remove everything then repair and replace the broke/missing bits before leaving it alone to completely dry and use rattle cans as it is just a black model.
The chassis should be fixable, the wonky rear buffer beam needs help, it is overwidth which is one of the many problems that a carefully wielded file might fix. Need to check the motor, does it still function?
I may well be out of my depth but I see the potential.

The body was left on the radiator overnight, it has received a good rub with a brush to remove the worst of the paint. Only now can the extent of the upgrade by the original owner be seen.
Just a few minutes later
